It's been very sad recently to say goodbye to Master Jun, who has been teaching at my Taekwondo club for the last six months or so. He's back in Korea by now since, in their infinite wisdom, the Australian government has declined his application to extend his visa.

He was a brilliant instructor and, under his tutelage, I've improved in leaps and bounds in my technique, control, speed, power, flexibility, and fitness, and been privileged to hear amazing stories about Korea and his progression in Taekwondo. He was truly a master at breaking down a strike into its component movements, so that I could work on perfecting each one separately and slowly before simply letting it flow, an approach which works exceptionally well for my detail-oriented brain.

Not to mention that he knew not to try to force my hamstring stretches too far after the time that I accidentally head butted him in the balls and left him limping for the rest of class. :) Now I'll have to work on training the next instructor!

Goodbye, Jun, and good luck! We'll all miss you.
