The Joy of Sickness

When I first got this sore throat, I thought it was going to be all bad.

I'm listening to my soundtrack to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and I'm happily singing along while Pharaoh freaks out about cows that don't get any fatter and cannibalistic ears of corn. Which is when I realise.

Pharaoh's a bass part.

And I'm singing along. Right down to the bottom F sharp. You know, not the one below Middle C, but the one an octave below that. I tried it on the piano, and I've even got an F natural, which is the theoretical bottom of the bass range. And sure, the volume's not so huge right down at the bottom there, but it's solidly on pitch.

I usually find the best and most comfortable parts of my voice are the tenor range more than the alto, but I'd forgotten how much my range extends when I'm sick. This is just plain awesome!

Off to pull out the Seargent from Pirates of Penzance. We charge you yield! In Queen Victoria's name! Ah, darn, don't quite have a bottom E flat. Ah well, hopefully it'll come.

*pokes throat* Get sicker! Sicker, I say!

I know you've been told this before, but you really need to watch Friends. Anyone who followed the show has seen a half an hour episode of this post. :D

i grok the weird things one watches while lurching along the edge of the catastrophic tumble into illness. today, for no better reason that I've not seen it since 1995, I am watching "Hackers". Two profoundly weird things that I'm sure would appeal to you, being technologically literate: no internet, no mobile phones. all dial up modems.

I'm very glad I've had a flu shot - hopefully that means there's only so bad this can get.

Don't think I've actually seen Hackers. But... *grin* You're reminding me of the Lois and Clark episode where an evil character tries to spread a virus that will destroy all computer systems on earth - until the goodies build an antidote which Superman flies around on a floppy disk to the key points of the Internet. The best part was the hacker villain's response: "I can't hack back in! It's debugging!" *headkeyboard*
