I absolutely agree with a bit of research you can probably do at least the preliminary work a physio would do with her at home. :) But as someone who's been on this particular train and seen a number of doctors who never picked it up, it was very important to work out whether the problem is with the tendon/muscle or with the nerve. Basically, does stretching her calf/hamstring feel the same as any other muscle stretches that she does anywhere else on her body, or does stretching her calf/hamstring feel 'different' and give her numbness or pins and needles. No one ever thought to specifically ask me about it and I couldn't articulate the difference, so my neural inflexibility was missed until I was 32. Try googling 'the slump test' to test whether the nerve is involved. If it's not, go go go for stretching, it's most of what the physio will tell you to do! But if it is, then stretching can actually be of limited help and risk injury without nerve glides or piriformis stretching/trigger release (all of which you can also find online if you decide that might be an issue). If there's anything I can do to help as a pro toe-walker and someone who's been through all that physio, do feel free to ask. :)

Glad to hear she's starting to manage to walk on flat feet without pain, that's awesome!

Poor kiddo, I'm sorry she's having such a tough time. You're right about everything being interrelated--taking one or two things off someone's emotional plate can make a huge difference, but trying to work through deal with any one thing also adds to everyone's emotional plates too. :/
